Our research

We use neuropsychological (cognitive testing), cognitive neuroscience (brain imaging), and biomedicine (blood biomarker) methods, along with smartphones, to study the complexity of memory and cognition in daily life.

We are fortunate to conduct research supported by the National Institute on Aging (R01 AG068098, R01 AG078361), National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes (R01 NS114913), and the National Institute of Nursing Research (R01 NR020261), as well as the Arizona Alzheimer’s Consortium.

We ask questions like:

“How does memory and other aspects of cognition adaptively change in normal, healthy older age?”

“Can we use smartphones to improve the detection of age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease?”

“How does the brain make and retrieve the memories that tell your life story?”
